How can I resolve my alert issue?

Last updated on July 01, 2022

Here are some common issues you may encounter. Click on a topic below to see how to troubleshoot your alert emails.

I did not receive my alert

There could be several reasons you did not receive an alert:

There are no new results

When setting a search alert, an alert email will only be sent if there are new results available for your search.

The alert may be in your spam / junk / quarantine mail folder

  • Check your Spam folder and your filter settings. A spam filter may have caught your alert.
  • Check your Junk folder. The alert may have gone in your junk-mail instead of your inbox.
  • Check your Quarantine folder. The alert may have gone in your quarantine folder instead of your inbox.

Solution

Verify the email address sciencedirect@notification.elsevier.com has been added to your secure emails (safe senders) list.

Alerts are sent to your previous email address

Note: This is only applicable for book series and journal alerts.

If you recently changed the email address in your ScienceDirect account profile, your alert may have been delivered to the previous address.

Solution

This should correct itself before your next scheduled alert.

The alert may have been deleted or the alert frequency changed

Only the owner of an alert can delete or modify the alert. Check the frequency and last sent date on the Manage alerts page to see when the alert was last sent.

I received a duplicate email alert

More than one account profile has been created with the same email address. Remove one of your alerts on the Manage alerts page.
